For over 100 years the city of Auburn has provided visitors and residents the opportunity to discover why this town is like no other. Auburn is the land of two rivers, home to two nations and spread across two counties. Located between Seattle and Tacoma in the shadow of Mt. Rainier, Auburn is the perfect place to work, play and spend a lifetime. It is a warm, embracing community where people still stop to say hello.

History of Auburn
In 1893, a large group of settlers from Auburn, New York moved to Slaughter, and renamed the town to “Auburn.” Due to this history, when Auburn was building its second high school in the mid-1990s… Auburn was originally incorporated as “Slaughter,” named after William Slaughter, who died in a Treaty War in 1855. At the time, the main hotel in town was called the “Slaughter House.”
